Countrix ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of the businesses and individuals who use our platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have over your data.
When you create an account and use Countrix, we collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, business name, billing details, and (where you provide them) business details such as address, industry, and tax-related information.
We collect financial data you connect or import, such as bank transactions (via Plaid), manually entered or uploaded transactions, invoices, expense records, and documents or receipts you upload. This data is used solely to provide the accounting, reporting, and related services you request.
We automatically collect certain technical and usage data necessary to operate the service, such as log files, IP address, browser type, and device identifiers, for security, troubleshooting, and performance.
To provide, operate, and improve the Countrix platform, including AI-powered transaction categorization, financial reporting, tax estimation, document and receipt processing (including OCR), and in-app assistance.
To communicate with you about your account, send transactional emails (such as verification, password reset, payment confirmations, and important alerts), and respond to support inquiries.
To ensure the security of our platform, detect and prevent fraud, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
We share your data only with trusted service providers that help us operate Countrix, under strict confidentiality and data-processing terms. These include: cloud hosting and database providers; payment processors (e.g. Stripe); email delivery services; and, for features like categorization and document processing, AI and machine-learning providers (e.g. via OpenRouter and model providers such as Google). We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers on the platform.
For AI and API services (such as transaction categorization, OCR, and in-app assistance), we use providers that support encryption in transit and zero data retention. Your data sent to these services is not retained or used for model training after the request is processed.
We may disclose your information when required by law, regulation, or a valid legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of Countrix and its users.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy commitments.
Countrix integrates with third-party financial services (such as Plaid for bank connectivity and QuickBooks for import). When you connect these services, your data is subject to both this Privacy Policy and the privacy policies of those third parties. We do not store your bank login credentials.
Documents and receipts you upload are stored in secure cloud storage (e.g. AWS S3) and may be processed by our systems and AI providers for features such as receipt parsing and OCR. We retain and use this data only to provide the services you use.
We retain your personal and financial data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the services you use. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within 90 days, except where we must retain it by law.
To request account closure and deletion of your data, contact us at hello@countrix.com. We will process your request in line with this policy and applicable law.
We use industry-standard security measures including data encryption in transit (e.g. TLS) and encryption at rest for sensitive data. Our production database is encrypted (e.g. using AWS KMS where applicable), and access to data is restricted and audited.
AI and API services we use for features such as categorization and chat are chosen or configured to use encryption and zero data retention where available, so your data is not stored or used for training by those providers after processing.
No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to enable two-factor authentication when available.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@countrix.com. We will respond in line with applicable law.
You may opt out of non-transactional (e.g. marketing) communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us. Transactional emails (e.g. account and security-related messages) are necessary for the service and are not subject to opt-out.
Countrix uses essential cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, preferences, and security. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser; disabling essential cookies may limit platform functionality.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, may notify you by email or through the platform. Continued use of Countrix after the updated date constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, please contact us at hello@countrix.com.
